LGBT Strategy Seminars
The IIRE's International Lesbian/Gay/Bisexual/Transgender (LGBT) Strategy Seminars are gatherings of experienced members or sympathizers of the IIRE's partner organizations, who are also active in LGBT movements and informed about their debates. The idea of 'strategy seminars' means that these are neither academic seminars without any activist content, nor organizing meetings that adopt positions or initiate action. But the seminars are meant to lead ultimately to publications as well as contribute to practical co-operation.
The first three LGBT seminars took place at the IIRE in 1998, 2000 and 2002. A fourth seminar will be planned by the nine-member seminar organizing team (whose members are in Belgium, Brazil, Britain, Canada, France, Indonesia, Italy, the Netherlands and Portugal).
